Department of Nephrology

Neurology is a complex and dynamic field of medicine which dealing with study, diagnosis, treatment and management of disorders and disease affecting nervous system. Main areas of focus brain, spinal cord and peripheral nervous system. Department of neurology in karuna medical college was started on. Department serves as a centre for patient care, health education and research for students and faculty. We provide not only OPD and in patient care services but also have good neurophysiology lab.

Our department also focuses on other subspecialties like child neurology, neurocritical care and neuromuscular medicine. Treatment approaches include pharmacological treatment, referral for surgical intervention and neurorehabilitative service

NERVE CONDUCTION STUDY

NCS are diagnostic test to assess the function of the peripheral nervous system .Using NCS a comprehensive understanding of nerve and muscle function can be obtained like Diagnostic nerve damage , evaluating neuropathy and studying and monitoring nerve function NCS can diagnose a lot of condition like carpel tunnel syndrome, peripheral neuropathies, radiculopathies, brachial plexus injuries

REPETITIVE NERVE STIMULATION

RNS can provide a comprehensive understanding of the neuromuscular function it is useful in diagnosing myasthenia gravis and neuromuscular junction disorder

VISUAL EVOKED POTENTIALS

VEPS are useful in diagnosing optic neuritis, multiple sclerosis and other demyelinising diseases

Comprehensive stroke unit and other facilities like necessary lab investigation and radiological investigation like MRI, CT scan are available.

Adequate neurorehabilitation facilities like physiotherapy
