Department of Anatomy

Anatomy department was established in 2006 under the able leadership of Dr.Elzy an eminent, teacher and a visionary.
Anatomy is the backbone of medical education that emphasizes of structure & functions of human body. It is fundamental for understanding other disciplines of medicines. Knowledge of clinical Anatomy is essential for understanding the various disease and for diagnosing & managing them with subsequent medical or surgical procedures. The Department has a well-equipped Histology Lab, Dissection Hall, state – of – the – art Museum, Departmental library & Research Lab. There is adequate space for the display of dissected specimen, Models, Radiographs & Bones. It consists a total of 430 dissected wet specimens, 30 sets disarticulated bones,7 articulated skeletons,44 charts & 213 Radiographs including CT & MRI scans,73 Models for the purpose of Teaching. All the Laboratories & Demonstration rooms are equipped with audio visual aids.

Anatomy Museum

Anatomy Department has a progressive museum exhibiting various types of Anatomical & Embryological specimens. It consists a total of 430 dissected wet specimens, 30 sets disarticulated bones,7 fully articulated skeleton, 44 charts & 213 Radiographs including CT & MRI scans & 73 Models for the purpose of teaching. Specimens of various animals are also available for comparative study.

Dissection Hall

Dissection hall is well equipped to accommodate 100 students, with metallic dissection tables, adequate lighting, drainage facilities & separate hand washing area for students.

Histology Lab

Histology lab is well equipped with adequate microscopes to accommodate 30 students.

Embalming room

The embalming room is equipped with an embalming machine. Three storage tanks each with a capacity of 15 cadavers. The room is equipped with 6 cold storage or freezer. The room has a motor band saw for making sections as per the requirement of training.

Body Donation Programme

Voluntary body Donation is a programme where people can donate their bodies to serve the purpose of Medical education & Scientific Research. Karuna Medical College is authorized by state government to accept to body donation. Embalming of the donated bodies is performed in the Anatomy Department.
