The Department of Pharmacology, Karuna Medical College, successfully organized the Intercollegiate Pharmacology Quiz Competition – Pharma Whiz 2025 on 3rd November 2025.
The Organizing Committee was led by Dr. Regina Roy, Organizing Secretary, with Dr. Gurudeva, Dr. Alice Kuruvilla, Dr. Vijayamathy, Dr. Thangam, Dr.Anamika Krishnan, Dr. Fazulu Rahiman, Dr. Asif Muhammed, and Mrs. Nilaferneesa as team members.
A total of 139 contestants from 16 medical colleges across Southern India—both government and private institutions—participated in the competition. The event was conducted under the expertise of a Quiz Master Dr.Anusha N from JIPMER, Pondicherry. The preliminary round began at 9:15 a.m., from which six top-scoring teams qualified for the grand finale. Prelims was conducted in the Lecture hall. After the Prelims Certificate of participation in the Qualifying round (Preliminary round) was distributed to all the contestants.
The inaugural ceremony was held prior to the final round. The event was inaugurated by the Principal, Dr. Prathap Somanath. The welcome address was delivered by Dr. Gurudeva, followed by the presidential address by Dr. Tharakeswari. Dr.Alice Kuruvilla, Dr.Kiran D.R, Dr. Gayathri, and Dr. Nikita Prabhakaran offered felicitations, setting an enthusiastic tone for the competition.



Quiz finale was conducted in the auditorium at 11:00 am
Each team comprised three members. After several exciting and intellectually stimulating rounds, the winners emerged as follows:
1st Prize: KMCH Institute of Medical Sciences and Research, Coimbatore
2nd Prize: Jubilee Mission Medical College, Thrissur
3rd Prize: Government Medical College, Kottayam
4th Prize: Velammal Medical College and Hospital, Madurai.
5th Prize: Government Medical College, Kozhikode
6th Prize: Government Medical College, Kannur



The valedictory function, held after lunch, featured cultural performances by students and the prize distribution ceremony. The first, second, and third prizes carried cash awards of ₹15,000, ₹10,000, and ₹5,000 respectively. The fourth, fifth, and sixth positions received ₹2,000 each.
The prizes were distributed by Dr. Prathap Somanath, Dr. Sudha Banu, and Dr. Alice Kuruvilla.
The event concluded with the Vote of Thanks by. Dr.Thangam and the National Anthem, marking the end of a memorable day celebrating knowledge, teamwork, and the spirit of healthy competition.
