Department of Neurology
Neurology is a complex and dynamic field of medicine which dealing with study, diagnosis, treatment and management of disorders and disease affecting nervous system. Main areas of focus brain, spinal cord and peripheral nervous system. Department of neurology in karuna medical college was started on. Department serves as a centre for patient care, health education and research for students and faculty. We provide not only OPD and in patient care services but also have good neurophysiology lab.

Neurophysiology Laboratory
Besides Neurology department also has a well equipped neurophysiology lab which provides the following services.
ELECTROENCEPHALOGRAM
ELECTROENCEPHALOGRAM (EEG) is a test that measures electrical activity in the brain. Uses of EEG include
- Diagnose seizures and epilepsy : EEG helps identity abnormal electrical activity
- To classify seizure s into syndromes
- To differentiate between seizure and pseudo seizure
- To diagnose localisation related epilepsy and assist in referral of patients for epilepsy surgery
ERVE CONDUCTION STUDY
NCS are diagnostic test to assess the function of the peripheral nervous system .Using NCS a comprehensive understanding of nerve and muscle function can be obtained like Diagnostic nerve damage , evaluating neuropathy and studying and monitoring nerve function NCS can diagnose a lot of condition like carpel tunnel syndrome, peripheral neuropathies, radiculopathies, brachial plexus injuries
REPETITIVE NERVE STIMULATION
RNS can provide a comprehensive understanding of the neuromuscular function it is useful in diagnosing myasthenia gravis and neuromuscular junction disorder
VISUAL EVOKED POTENTIALS
VEPS are useful in diagnosing optic neuritis, multiple sclerosis and other demyelinising diseases
