The department of cardiology a key division and internal medicine in our Karuna Medical College, which is a premier institution in this region.

Our hospital caters important areas which cover both Kerala and Tamilnadu border especially the rural areas.

We started with noninvasive cardiac services which included non invasive work up

Less serious cardiac patients are treated as outpatients with following facilitie

  • Electrocardiography
  • Ambulatory ECG monitoring (Holter)
  • Ambulatory blood pressure monitoring (ABPM)
  • Transthroracic Echocardiography
  • Transpharyngeal Echocardiography
  • Stress electrocardiography(TMT)

Also screening works are done with the help of biochemistry laboratory to assess cardiovascular risk factors and treated subsequently.

Referral patients from other clinical departments:

  • Offer services to the referral patients from other departments.
  • Pre-operative cardiac assessment and offertreatment strategies.

Inpatient care

  • We offer in patients service for more serious patients in general and special words.

ICCU

  • For treating emergencies like acute coronary syndrome, severe heart failure etc. we have two ICCU facilities.
  • Precath assessment and Post –PTCA patients are given in special ICU facilities on 24X7 basis.

Academics

  • Discussion with other department colleagues to improve cardiac patients.
  • Give speeches in clinical meetings
  • Brief training to UGs(Electives) and CRMIs guiding them how to approach cardiac patients.
  • Our department is sanctioned reacting with Dr NB superspeciality seats to step up the Academic activity which well further booster our services.
